"You've gotta go after the things you want while you're still in your prime..." - Avenue Q

As a way of dealing with our constant "what are we doing with our lives?" questions, my roommates and I decided to sit down and let each other know our goals and dreams. I let everybody know that I just really want to make great television for kids. I really do.

Brent let out that he wants to one day own his own advertising agency. I sparked up! I had remembered seeing something about the Globe Link's Young Creatives competition last year, and realized that Brent and I could enter the competition since I was still freelancing with Compound- the advertising agency I was working full time at the end of last year. Brent was still freelancing various places as a designer, and I was freelancing as a creative/copywriter... woah woah woah!

We could enter!

So now, come Saturday morning at 9, when all of our friends are asleep... Brent and I will be opening a creative brief.

Hopefully we'll come up with something great. I hope so. This will be just so excellent if people like our thing.

Shopping List for the Best Summer Ever!

-Case of Beer (We have the best balcony ever, but beers make it even better.)
-Ukulele (I play the french horn and the noseflute. Neither of them make me look cute. Let's try again.)
-Bike with locks and basket (Oh this one is so great.)
-Sundress! (Hello!)
-1/4 of a Wal Mart Adult pool for the top deck (I am not even kidding. Best. Summer. For. Real)

The Fart Beat- Chapter 2

Producing a children's fringe theatre show is stressful!

Howcome nobody sent me the press release about that?

Here's the thing: This theatre show is great. It's going to make kids pee themselves. It will be a delight to do and once it's running it will be amazing.

But unfortunately, there is no money involved. Right now between me and my director, we are like, broke broke. If we could pay people to do the show, it would be way awesome. People wouldn't have to balance this with jobs and take paying jobs and leave this sort of stuff behind which is so unfortunate. Luckily for me I work with the best director who just is able to shrug stressful stuff off and be like "hey hey, let's call up ___ and see if they can do it!"

Then I was in the shower, and thinking about why we do this sort of stuff... Why is everybody in my cast doing this for nothing? Then I realized... we are all crazy! We get joy out of going to rehearsals, writing stuff, practicing our heads off, singing songs, writing music, and then putting it on for daycamps in July.

I for one, am very appreciative that I am surrounded by fellow crazy people. I will continue to spend my non income on this play and when it goes up, hopefully the scent of urine in the Palmerston Theatre will be my reward.
